Whether you’re already managing a cannabis business or just starting to scale up, understanding the strategies used by the biggest players in the industry is key to sustainable success. Keep reading to learn the frameworks, funding methods, and financial oversight required to go from small startup to cannabis industry titan.

What It Takes to Build a $200M Cannabis Empire

Scaling a multi-million dollar cannabis business doesn’t happen by accident. Operators who reach the $200M+ level all share a few common traits:

  • Visionary leadership with a long-term strategy

  • Operational discipline backed by data

  • Access to capital and investor trust

  • Robust accounting systems to ensure compliance

In this webinar, we’ll unpack these traits and show how they translate into real-world success, even in one of the most highly regulated industries in the U.S.

Drawing Parallels: Cannabis and the Gaming Industry

One of the most interesting insights we’ll explore is the similarity between the cannabis boom and the rise of online gaming. Both industries:

  • Operated in legal gray areas before full regulation

  • Attracted speculative investors early on

  • Faced intense scrutiny from regulators

  • Experienced exponential growth after initial hurdles

Understanding how gaming companies scaled despite regulatory friction can provide a roadmap for scaling a multi-million dollar cannabis business.

The Road to Nine Figures: Breaking Down a $100M+ Capital Raise

Ever wondered how cannabis companies raise hundreds of millions in funding? We’ll walk you through the real steps and critical relationships involved in a successful capital raise, including:

  • Investor pitch strategies that resonate

  • Due diligence preparation

  • Compliance and transparency expectations

  • Post-funding governance and reporting

Learning this process is essential for founders who are serious about scaling a multi-million dollar cannabis business and want to attract institutional capital.

Major Accounting Issues Faced by Large Operators

Even the most successful cannabis businesses can stumble without the right accounting infrastructure. We’ll review real-world case studies of:

  • Revenue misreporting

  • Poor inventory tracking under seed-to-sale systems

  • 280E miscalculations

  • Inadequate internal controls

Avoiding these pitfalls is critical for scaling a multi-million dollar cannabis business while remaining compliant and investor-ready.

Current Challenges in Cannabis Accounting for Large-Scale Growth

The cannabis accounting landscape continues to evolve. Operators looking to scale must stay on top of:

  • State-specific tax regulations

  • Complex cost accounting under IRC 471

  • Financial reporting for multi-state operations

This session will help attendees understand the nuances of accounting that can either support or hinder growth as they work toward scaling a multi-million dollar cannabis business.
