Kathy Hartwell is a serial entrepreneur who has dedicated much of the last decade to learning and business development both inside and outside the cannabis space and across the United States. She believes that patience, creativity, and continuous personal development are essential to surviving (and thriving) amid increased competition and regulatory pressure.
Ten years ago, she set a goal to open at least one new company each year and consistently met this challenge. She currently owns a stake in 3 dispensaries (each in a different state), a processing company, an accounting company, and real estate investments.
While pursuing her business interests, Kathy puts in the effort to earn a B.A. in Business Administration with a focus in accounting from Washington State University, and later, she became a member of the first cohort to earn an M.S. in Cannabis Science and Therapeutics from the University of Maryland.
In 2021, Kathy’s Oklahoma dispensary received an award for Patients Over Profits in honor of the low-income program she implemented to provide very low-cost medical marijuana to more than 50 patients, as well as the penny program, which provides full-spectrum cannabis oil to patients with a cancer diagnosis, for just a penny. Kathy recognizes the importance of connecting with the community and giving back in impactful ways that are more than just a marketing strategy.
