Bruce Andersen CPA, MBA, MS(Tax)

Bruce Andersen founded CannabisCPA.Tax which is a premier boutique resource to the legal cannabis industry in the areas of tax, audit, accounting, and consulting. The firm is based in Los Angeles with the bulk of its client base in California. The firm also has clients in twenty other cannabis friendly states. The firm’s client base includes cultivators, distributors, retailers, and manufacturers. It is a division of AndersenCPA.Com.

Bruce speaks frequently for various cannabis events. He has been a panelist for the CalCPA annual Cannabis Symposium speaking on local cannabis taxation. He has been a panelist for a national cannabis tax and accounting organization in 2021 and 2023 for presentations with the national office of examination for the IRS, the topic being taxation of cannabis business and the current tax law.

Bruce started his career after the military with Mobil Chemical Plastics in Bakersfield as the financial analyst. Later he became controller, then CFO for an aerospace manufacturing company in Los Angeles. Bruce eventually opened his own accounting firm, catering to small business, providing tax, accounting, and consulting services to a variety of industries. In 2018, the firm opened a division to service Cannabis.

He has been a QuickBooks ProAdvisor for over twenty-five years. He has been a speaker for NBI, Intuit, K2 Enterprises, and Spidell Tax, as well as teaching accounting and finance for the University of Phoenix for more than a dozen years.

My concern in servicing the startup and newer businesses in the cannabis space to be accessible. Provide a foundation for good accounting and finance so the company can grow and be profitable. Bruce has advanced degrees from Golden Gate University (M.S. Tax), Boston University (M.S. Business Administration), and California State University-Bakersfield (MBA-Finance). His undergraduate work was done at Iowa State University earning a B.S. in Industrial Administration.
